Volunteering opportunities

Many organisations in & around Marlow rely on volunteers, including sometimes Marlow Community Association itself.  This page is where to find details of current volunteering opportunities.  If you have a few hours to spare and would like to take a more active role in the local community, then please have a look to see if there's anything that would suit you.

And if you are part of a local community organisation or group that is looking for volunteers and you'd like to advertise here, please contact the office or email mcatechsprt@gmail.com with the details.

At the moment, we have information about opportunities at:

  • Cameo Club

  • Marlow Age Concern

  • Marlow Museum

  • National Childbirth Trust

  • Oxfam

Marlow Age Concern

Marlow Age Concern was established over 30 years ago to help older residents in the Greater Marlow area, particularly those confined to their homes by age or infirmity. We also offer information and advice to friends, neighbours and family members seeking to help older people.

Our Day Centre in Glade Road gives elderly folk the opportunity to meet once a week for social activities and a home cooked hot lunch (for a modest sum). Door to door free transport is provided.

We are always seeking VOLUNTEERS!  We need:

     Cooks and kitchen helpers

     Day centre assistants

     Car and minibus drivers/escorts

If you have a few hours to spare on a weekly or fortnightly basis and would like to help, please call Laura, our centre co-ordinator, on 01628 482883 during our office hours which are 9:00am to 1.00pm on Monday to Friday. Alternatively, email us at any time on marlowageconcern@waitrose.com. Thank you

Marlow Museum

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy meeting other people and could do a regular 2, 3 or 4 hour slot once a month at our local Museum as a steward to welcome visitors. It's all about Marlow, but you don't need to know a great deal about local history, because you will pick it up as you go along. You find out some fascinating things. There are always two stewards on duty, so you won't be alone.

From March to the end of October we open on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 1-5pm and on Wednesdays from 2-5pm. In the winter the hours are reduced to Sundays only from 2-4pm.

You may be surprised to know that we have visitors from all over the world!  So it is a great pity when we cannot open the Museum because we don't have enough stewards.  Would you consider helping us?  If so, please email contact@marlowmuseum.org  or ring Della on 01628 482515. Thank you.

National Childbirth Trust

The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) in Maidenhead & Marlow is looking for volunteers to help with its local activities to support new and expectant parents. We aim to help parents feel more confident and less isolated by sharing information and providing activities and services locally to help them feel connected and supported.

We are looking for volunteers to help coordinate these activities, plan and run new services, and manage the team's finances. These are great opportunities to meet new people, help in your community and share your skills.

All our roles are flexible and can fit around families and other commitments. You do not need to be an NCT member or even a parent to get involved. Please contact volunteering@nct.org.uk to find out more and find a role that suits you.

Oxfam

Oxfam is a globally recognized charity organization working towards the eradication of poverty and inequality worldwide. The Oxfam shop in Marlow plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's work through the sale of donated items such as clothing, books, and household goods.

We are currently seeking volunteers to join our team at the Oxfam shop in Marlow to help with tasks such as sorting and pricing donated items, assisting customers, and managing the shop floor. By volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the fight against poverty while also gaining valuable skills and experience. To apply, please come and speak to us in the shop (31 High St, Marlow) or apply to volunteer online here.

Cameo Club

Cameo Club provides monthly lunches for elderly, lonely, housebound or disabled guests who live within the Marlow neighbourhood. Volunteers are needed to help run the Club.

Telephone 01628 486366 for further information.
